ÇANAKKALE REGION

Some of the folk dances well known in Çanakkale are ; Harmandalı, kaba güvem, Edremit güvendesi , Yandım Ayşe,(Karyolamın Demiri), Kuz köy Zeybeği, Bayramiç Zeybeği, Karanlık Zeybeği.
Except for these dances Samahtar which are usually performed in weddings or funfairs, a religious featured dance called Samahlar constitutes an important and indivisible part of Cem in which “Turkoman” perform their ceremonial worship. Belonging, in origin, to Çanakkale region Samahlar is performed with slower rhythm in comparison to Samahlar of Middle and Eastern Anatolia.
Apart from these types of dances, other societies settling in the region through immigration ( Circassian, Adygea, Kumyk, Pomak, Bosnian etc.) perform their own dances along with the dances of Çanakkale region. Musical instruments used in the dances demonstrate differences in terms of dances performed and the performing society. While clarinet, violin, drum and tambourine are used in traditional zeybek dance, bağlama is used for Samahlar and accordion is used for phacic in Circassian dances.
